Parliament Security Breach: Commoners vs Government

                            The Parliament Security Breach

The news of the Indian parliament breach has been a devastating incident for the nation. It has evoked questions on the security parameters of the Parliament. Do we need to be more capable? Are we just going to be election-oriented about this? Should we pay attention to the root cause of this incident? Are we just going to sit back and do nothing about it? There are millions of questions from all around the globe. This incident has not only become an issue of national importance but internationally people have been questioning government policies and the security that entails the "House of People". The gravity of this incident has taken place in the minds of the youth of this nation because all the accused have been identified as students which again leads to another question of how the youth can take a step as vital as this? Honestly, there are so many questions that need an answer, but we have been silenced, the nation has been silenced because of this action taken by our very own youth.

As much as it is shameful for us, it is also concerning as to what actually made these people who, again, are just normal students from different states of India do this unpredictable and shameful act. I personally think that it is something more than just a political move because these people have been planning to execute the incident for about 18 months now. If someone is behind the incident, then it had to be the voice of the commoners. It sounds really weird, and it is hard to acknowledge how a simple e-rickshaw driver was jumping around the parliament and spreading yellow-coloured smoke. Does it make any sense to you? No, it doesn't. We need to critically examine the incident to highlight the actual meaning of it. What is done cannot be reversed but it surely can be taken into consideration as to why these people did what they did. All the news channels and media reporters are focusing light on the question of how and what, but they are missing the major question that needs to be put on focus that is, WHY? This is a major setback for us because the reputation of India on the global front cannot be compromised. After all, at this point in time where India has become a global marketplace for every big MNCs, it cannot afford to lose its economic and political image. I mean, we are better than this aren't we?

Let's now look deeper into the incident to crack the code of why rather than linger ourselves to the incident that has already taken place. I am writing this blog not to put blame on the government or other authoritative bodies, I am putting forward my words to analyze the situations that the accused were put in that led them to take this huge step that they too knew would destroy their lives. The first accused, Sagar Sharma, a normal e-rickshaw driver was the one to enter the Parliament through the commoner's corridor. He had placed coloured gas sachets under the soles of his shoes. The second accused was Manoranjan D who is an engineering student and above all the main accused was Lalit Jha who ran away from the place of the incident. Whatever happened wasn't supposed to be happening and it is evidently a wrong way to put forward your opinion or even protest. Everyone is referring to these people as extremists and immoral but from what I see is that these people were just trying to let out their frustration although their way of letting out their frustration for the government was wrong but idea behind it was not completely wrong. People around the nation have been suffering from poverty, unemployment and other basic necessities and even though these issues hold a lot of importance, it often get overlooked by politicians. This incident was, without a doubt, a shameful incident for our nation but we need to understand that if it had happened then it must have a serious cause behind it. People are not getting jobs despite having top-tier degrees. It is hard for the middle-class family to even afford such education for their children and even if they did, they have to go through serious financial situations. In every election, we are asked to vote for the people we trust can bring change to our nation, but do they really bring out the change that our nation truly deserves? If they really did think of the change that this nation's people deserve, the incident of the Parliament security breach wouldn't have taken place.

I am not going to entirely blame the government or the people behind this crime but what I truly feel is that these people are commoners and from the six accused people there might be one or two who entrusted their vote to the ruling government with a hope that they might get heard or they might get a chance to at least better their lives. There have been other incidents where people might have the medium to get their voice heard but that medium is so weak that it takes two years for a grievance of a common person to reach the right authority and then it takes another two years for them to finally get a resolution. I don't think that it should be made such a big issue that it already has become, the accused are all arrested, and no harm was inflicted upon a single political figure instead the vice-versa happened. I am a commoner and writing from the perspective of a commoner makes me realize the fact that it truly is hard for us to survive where jobs are less, and you cannot stop the bill from piling up. The government is doing what they need to do but despite linking this incident to a political agenda, it would be better if they talk about the cause behind the protest that shook the world at once. Psychologically, people have certain limits to which they can hold their frustration to themselves and if a proper outlet to the building frustration is not provided, it can convert into a flame so strong that they completely lose the power to make the right decision, it converts into anger and vengeance. As an advocate of mental health awareness in India, I link this incident to the theories of psychological parameters and the adverse effects of financial barriers that ultimately resulted in such a horrifying event. There might be other theories related to the event but the perspective I have, after careful consideration of the situation, is that people have a simple mind with simple needs, and it is the situations that arise that make that simple mind lead to complexities which slowly develops into frustration and then they drown themselves in the misery of anger whose by-product is in front of the entire world.

You might be reading this article sitting at your home, watching the same news with different anchors giving the exact same information all day long. I just want to highlight that you are a commoner, and you have the power to elect whoever you want but you are also your priority, and it is really very important to not lose yourself when every door has been closed. Sometimes, you just need to know that whatever you do, whatever step you take will involve your family, friends and most importantly it will involve your own life which is precious more than anything. Communicating with people around you can help you to understand that what you are suffering is nothing compared to what the world is going through. Don't ever feel that you're in this alone, you might be down today, but your struggle will surely lift you up if you have been truly determined about it. Pulling these stunts might get you the attention but it will never give you the solution you truly want. Again, communication is the key solution to every problem and often my father used to say that a mind can be the biggest friend of yours and it also can be the biggest enemy of yours. So, choose wisely!
